Planning to Drink? Make Sure to Plan Ahead

You’re getting ready for a night out to celebrate a birthday or perhaps you’re just meeting friends to watch some football–whatever the occasion–make sure you have a game plan to get home safely after the festivities. It’s never a good idea to get behind the wheel after you’ve consumed alcohol. It not only puts you and your passengers at risk, but everyone else on the road, too. At Houska, we have these tips to give any night out a safe, happy ending.

Assign a Designated Driver:

Ask a person to volunteer to be the night’s designated driver. The volunteer should commit to not drinking at all throughout the evening. You also can ask someone who isn’t joining you out, to pick you all up at the end of the night.

Take an Uber or Lyft:

For many, Uber and Lyft are the convenient options to a taxicab, especially if you don’t live in a city where taxis are consistently driving through town. Make sure you have the Uber or Lyft app downloaded and account set up on your phone before you head out the door to make arranging your ride quick and easy.

Go Lux With a Big Group:

If you’re a large group you might want to consider going out in style by chipping in for a limousine or party bus.

Have a Sleepover:

If you’re drinking at a friend’s house that might live a bit far, ask the host if you can spend the night. Make sure to contribute to the party as a thank you.

Use Your Own Two Feet:

With bars and breweries popping up beyond Old Town, we bet you have options where you can have a drink that is close to home. When walking home, make sure to stay in well-lit areas and cross at the designated crosswalks.
