DIY Halloween Car Decorations

From our themed blood drives to the devilish jokes we share during the season, we love Halloween here at Houska Automotive! And when it comes to getting into the holiday spirit, there’s no reason you can’t include decorating your vehicle. Here are some fun ideas to consider if you want to participate in a Trunk or Treat event, a parade or just share your love for Halloween while driving around town.

Wicked Trunk or Treat Themes

  • Spooky Graveyard – Use foam tombstones, cobwebs and ghost cutouts to transform your vehicle into a graveyard scene. If you have a pick-up, add dirt and a fog machine to achieve a real spooky effect!
  • A “Lit” Haunted House on Wheels – If your Trunk or Treat event is at night, step up the decorations with flickering battery-operated candles, hanging bats with electric eyes and glow in the dark sticks.
  • Pumpkin Patch – For something more kid-friendly, use orange balloons and fake vines to design a cute pumpkin patch scene.
  • Googly-Eyed Monster – Big googly eyes, teeth made from foam board, and monster “claws” will also catch trick-or-treaters’ attention without being too scary. Complement the vehicle in your own googly-eyed costume.

Halloween On the Go

  • Removable vinyl stickers or magnets like these will make your vehicle stand out on the road. This one will even have people doing a double take!
  • Orange underbody lights are a safe way to light up your vehicle for the season.
  • If you want to get your kids involved, let them use washable window markers to add Halloween messages.
  • Don’t forget the inside! Put a skeleton passenger in the back seat, or cute stuffed spiders and other Halloween creatures on your dashboard.

Make Safety a Priority

Make sure while you’re being creative, you’re also being safe.

  • Don’t block headlights, brake lights or license plate.
  • Secure all decorations so they won’t fall off while driving.
  • Avoid anything that could distract you or other drivers on the road.

With the right mix of imagination and attention to safety, your vehicle can be a frightful sight – in a good way! Have a happy Halloween!
